K-12 and community education administrative licensure

Individuals interested in becoming a K–12 principal, superintendent, director of special education, or director of community education will find the college’s administrative licensure program to be highly individualized, flexible, and designed to address the competencies required by the various licenses. The program offers evening courses throughout the year and day and evening courses during the summer. Most students who enroll in the program are practicing teachers. On average they complete the program in one to two years.

Licensing for educational administrators

Aspiring principals, superintendents, and directors of special education must complete a minimum of 60 semester credits of graduate-level coursework; aspiring directors of community education must complete a minimum of 20 semester credits at the graduate level. In addition, candidates must complete a pre-assessment and prepare portfolios to demonstrate knowledge, skills, and dispositions in areas of competencies for the pertaining licenses.
