K-12 and
community education administrative licensure
Individuals interested in becoming a K–12
principal, superintendent, director of special education, or
director of
community education will find the college’s administrative licensure
program to be highly individualized, flexible, and designed to address the
competencies required by the various licenses. The program offers evening
courses throughout the year and day and evening courses during the summer.
Most students who enroll in the program are practicing teachers. On average
they complete the program in one to two years.
Licensing
for educational administrators
Aspiring principals, superintendents, and
directors of special education must complete a minimum of 60 semester
credits of graduate-level coursework; aspiring directors of community
education must complete a minimum of 20 semester credits at the graduate
level. In addition, candidates must complete a pre-assessment and prepare portfolios to demonstrate
knowledge, skills, and dispositions in areas of competencies for the
pertaining licenses.
