Marriage and family therapy
The marriage and family therapy (MFT) program is offered at the
doctoral level through the
Department of Family Social Science whose mission is to educate
and mentor the next generation of leaders and agents of social
change in the field of marriage and family therapy.
- We integrate family science and marriage and family therapy
in a coherent way.
- We have a strong emphasis on research, which we view from a
broad range of methodologies, including quantitative,
qualitative, and community based participatory research.
- We have a diverse faculty who do research with diverse
communities.
- We have special faculty expertise in community engagement
with marginalized groups and those in the mainstream of society.
The marriage and family therapy program is accredited by the
American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Admission to
the program is available only to doctoral students with a clinical
master's degree which can earned through the college's
counseling and student personnel psychology
or master of
social work (M.S.W.) programs.
