Music education

Perhaps you'd like to share your musical expertise and talent with K–12 students. Or you might see yourself using music as therapy with disabled youth or nursing home residents. The College's music education program can help you prepare these careers and much more. The demand is high for teachers and therapists in this field, with positions available in a wide range of settings.

Program highlights

The Midwest's choice: The University is one of the few institutions in the upper Midwest to offer study in both music education and music therapy.

Interdisciplinary study: The program is offered in cooperation with the University’s School of Music.

Licensure: Students successfully completing the program will meet licensure requirements to teach general classroom music and either band, orchestra, or chorus in grades K-12 in Minnesota.
