The psychological
foundations of education track offers opportunities to focus in several
different areas, including social psychological and social developmental
processes in educational psychology (including human relations).
This
program takes an interdisciplinary approach to examining processes
that relate to outcomes in schools and other educational settings.
Specific
topics include: social influence processes, group dynamics,
cooperative learning, and aggression in schools.
Program highlights
Licensure requirement: The program's 4-credit Human Relations Workshop is
approved to meet the Minnesota Department of Education's human
relations requirement for state teaching licensure.
Balanced curriculum:
Students complete core courses from several areas of educational
psychology, including research methods, personality, measurement,
and evaluation.
Flexible admissions:
Applicants need not hold a master's degree to apply to the
doctoral program.
