Community Engaged Parent Education
What is Community Engaged Parent Education?
Community Engaged Parent Education is a new approach that sees
discussions of the public dimensions of parenting as an essential part of
parent education. It recognizes that communities and society affect a
family's capacity to raise children and that families are the greatest
untapped resource for changing communities and society. Parent educators in
Community Engaged Parent Education can play a very important role in
partnering with parents to identify and discuss the challenges of societal
factors and ways to work together for change.
The Community Engaged Parent Education Project
The Community Engaged Parent Education Project was developed to
disseminate Community Engaged Parent Education in Early Childhood Family
Education Programs in the Twin Cities and other places in the state of
Minnesota. This project is funded by a three year McKnight Foundation grant
and supplemented with funds from the General Mills Foundation.
