Di Samek is a Ph.D. student
in the Family Social Science department at the University of
Minnesota. She received her B.A. in Psychology, and M.A. in Family
Social Science from the University of Minnesota.
Di's current research interests include family communication, family
closeness perceptions, adolescent adjustment. Specifically, she is
interested in studying substance abuse and misuse, as well as clinical

Her theoretical interests are broad, however she currently is interested
in a comparison between social learning and social bonding theories. Di is
especially interested in studying families with varying degrees of
genetic-relatedness among children and parents (step, adoptive, ART).
