Family Policy Minor - Courses
Required Course:
FPOL 8000. Perspectives in Family Policy. Cross listed with SW
8101 Social Policy and Delivery Systems for Child Welfare and Family Services (3
credits). (3.0 cr; prereq. Policy Minor Graduate student). Offered Spring
semester. Multi-disciplinary perspectives and analysis of policies using
different approaches including family science, social work, public policy, and
law. Hands on application through policy advocacy at the State Legislature, and
other more local policy making bodies.

For Master’s students, at least six additional credits in courses drawn from one of the departments or professional schools listed below.
For Doctoral students, at least nine additional credits in courses drawn from the areas of focus listed below. It is anticipated that the student will compliment their major when selecting the courses. For some students, it may be appropriate for the courses to come from one area. For others it may be appropriate to select from various areas to form a way to view family policy. For instance, if the student is interested in policies around poverty or for low-income families, they might select from at least two areas.
