Advisory Board

Our advisory board consists of professionals who have professional or personal experiences with Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). Some members specialize in providing services to those experiencing infertility, while others have personal experiences with ART. The role of the Advisory Board is to provide feedback and suggestions about our research based on their expertise.

Amy Erickson Hagen

Amy Erickson Hagen, MS, TS (ABB)

Amy Erickson Hagen, received her Master of Science in Reproductive Physiology from Colorado State University and Bachelor of Science from North Dakota State University. Amy managed Cryogenic Laboratories, Inc. (CLI), Roseville, MN location from 2002 to 2011 before moving onto her current role as Corporate Compliance Officer for Genetics and IVF Institute, Inc which is the parent company for CLI. Her past experience ranges from placental IUGR research, laboratory technician at an IVF clinic to cryobank manager and now compliance officer. Amy has advocated for sperm banking prior to cancer treatment though partnering with Fertile Hope to offer the first national financial aid program for cancer patients to bank sperm. In November 2007, with Fertile Hope and the Lance Armstrong Foundation she launched the Live:ON mail in sperm banking program which was recognized in the Wall Street Journal. Amy has volunteered with RESOLVE and provided educational talks about various aspects of third party reproduction at patient and clinician conferences. She brings clinical infertility, third party reproduction processing and regulation as well as research experience to the study. Amy is a member of American Association of Tissue Banks, American Society of Reproductive Medicine, RESOLVE as well as the American Board of Bioanalysts where she has received the distinguished level of Technical Supervisor.

Deborah Simmons, Ph.D., LMFT

Dr. Deborah Simmons is a co-owner of Partners in Healing of Minneapolis (PIH). She is a marriage and family therapist who has been working with individuals, couples and families in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis - St. Paul, MN) for 14 years. Dr. Simmons specializes in reproductive complications. This includes fertility challenges, miscarriage, pregnancy complications, fetal anomalies, premature delivery, and stillbirth. She often is sought out by women with postpartum depression and anxiety. She consults to reproductive medicine clinics and OB-GYN clinics. She has worked with fertility clinics and third party reproductive agencies around the country to provide assessments and testing of potential egg donors and gestational carriers. She is a frequent speaker for the Midwest Region of RESOLVE.

Steve Snyder, JD

Mr. Snyder helps clients with everything from adoption to family law issues, such as divorce and custody. In conjunction with the International Assisted Reproduction Center, his law firm helps clients with all assisted reproductive needs, including finding a surrogate, egg donation, and embryo donation

Sheri Tesch, MS, LAMFT

Ms. Tesch is a mother of 12 year old twins, who were conceived through medical assistance. She is a marriage and family therapist at Central Minnesota Mental Health Center in Buffalo, MN. Sheri completed her master's thesis a phenomenological study of the lived experience of choosing Multi-fetal pregnancy reduction.
