Parent Discussion Groups

The Lab School offers opportunities for parent education and support. Discussion sessions are scheduled twice each ten-week session. Each year parents are surveyed to determine interest in various topics related to parenting. Identified topics are discussed at various times (morning, afternoon and evening) to accommodate different schedules. Ann Ruhl Carlson, who is a licensed parent educator, facilitates sessions. These meetings are very informal, and no ongoing commitment is expected or required. Parents are encouraged to attend sessions of interest to them. Each meeting includes a short presentation on the topic, and opportunities for questions and time for open discussion. Everyone is welcome!

November Meetings - "Things Parents Should Know about the Transition to Kindergarten"

Come and join us to discuss issues related to the kindergarten transition. Last year many parents came to share their personal experiences, which proved to be very helpful and informative. Remember that these informal meetings are open to all families - just choose a time and come! We will meet in Room 108, located upstairs, right above the school. This is a nice big room with space (and toys) for children to play while we talk. Refreshments will be provided!

Please note- the Thursday times occur on the days of the Oleanna Book sale. Drop off your child and find a place to park. Spend the morning/afternoon participating in the discussion group, and then shopping the sale! There are GREAT bargains on children’s books, and a percentage of all sales is donated to the Lab School’s library fund.

Don’t miss it!
