CPSY 4996 - Field Study

During field study, a student completes an internship or volunteer experience working with children in a setting external to the university. The location of the field study should match the student’s career interest, such as a school, clinic/hospital, non-profit agency, homeless shelter, child care facility, etc. Students are responsible for securing a field study placement. Facilitated online, typical assignments include journal postings and a final paper relating the field study experience to a topic in child psychology.

Students who are interested in gaining first-hand experience applying Child Psychology concepts to real world working environments.

Students who are interested in pursuing a career working with, or on behalf of, children and young adults. Students who are interested in pursuing graduate studies in psychology, education, disability services, social work, public policy, occupational therapy, and health careers.

S/N or audit (must be taken S/N to fulfill major requirements)

1-4 (each credit should represent 45 hours of volunteer or internship experience)
