Additional licensure in Early Childhood Education

(Minnesota state licensure in early childhood education)

Our additional licensure program is for students with current full (5-year) Minnesota licensure in Elementary Education who want to become licensed Early Childhood teachers in Minnesota. This graduate-level program provides rigorous, professional teacher preparation in accordance with the Standards of Effective Practice for Teachers (SEPT) and subject matter standards for teachers of early childhood education adopted by the Minnesota Board of Teaching.

After successfully completing licensure requirements, including coursework and supervised student teaching, students are recommended for state licensure in Minnesota to teach early childhood education (Birth-3rd grade).

Important note: This is an additional licensure program that is open only to teachers holding a current full (5 year) Minnesota license in Elementary Education who wish to add licensure covering the pre-K years.
