SLS Project

The Sustainability Through Sport Initiative at the University of Minnesota bridges classroom opportunities with boots-on-the-ground experience for undergraduate students, and offers unique research opportunities to grad students.

In partnership with the Minnesota Twins, the Minnesota Wild, the MLB All Star Game, the Minnesota X-Games, Gopher Athletics, and the NCAA Men’s Final Four 2019, this program seeks to research, design and implement innovative sustainability solutions in pro- and college sport settings.

STS is driven by an active Green Team of over 50 members, a grant-funded research initiative on college sport sustainability, and a close relationship with the University of Minnesota’s Institute on the Environment. STS is poised to widen its reach in the sport industry over the coming years, to become the leading research engine and sustainability support program for professional and college sport organizations across the United States.
