AFEE Plan A Curriculum
General Aspects (3 credits)
One of the following two courses:
- AFEE 5290—Seminar: Current Issues in Ag. Ed. & Extension (3 cr)
- AFEE 5331—History, Philosophy & Systems of Extension (3 cr)
Research (4 credits)
- OLPD 8815 [Formerly WHRE 8915]—Ethics and Responsible Research (1 cr)
AND one of the following four courses
- OLPD 5819 [Formerly WHRE 5901]—Using Research in Work and Human Resource Education (3 cr)
- OLPD 8812 [Formerly WHRE 8912]—Quantitative Research in Work and Human Resource Education (3 cr)
- CI 8913—Interpretive Research (3 cr)
- CI 8914—Critical Science Research (3 cr)

For agricultural education focus
- AFEE 5231—Agricultural Education Curriculum K-12 (2 cr)
- AFEE 5233—Advanced Procedures in Teaching Ag. Ed. (2 cr)
- AFEE 5235—Advanced Supervised Ag. Experience Programs (2 cr)
- AFEE 5237—Mentorship for Supervising Ag. Ed. Teachers (2 cr)
- AFEE 5239—Program Organization & Management in Ag. Ed. (2 cr)
For agricultural extension focus
- AFEE 5331—History, Philosophy, & Systems of Extension (3 cr)
- AFEE 5341—Global Program Delivery Techniques & Technology of Extension (2 cr)
- AFEE 5361—World Development Problems (3 cr)
- AFEE 5371—Farming Systems Research & Extension (3 cr)
- OLPD 5851 [Formerly WHRE 5351]—Methods for Change in Developing Countries (3 cr)
For a combination of agricultural education and extension
Students may select 10 credits from either the agricultural education focus or agricultural extension focus.
Electives
Credits to total a minimum of 34 graduate-level coursework credits.
Thesis Credits (10 credits)
- OLPD 8777 [Formerly WHRE 8777]—Thesis Credits: Master's (10 cr)
The master’s degree requires 6 semester credits taken outside the department that directly relate to the student’s area of study. These courses should be selected in consultation with the adviser and should constitute a solid coursework foundation for the student’s thesis.

Plan B Project or Paper (3-6 credits)
Plan B project/paper is prepared under the guidance of adviser and committee - must represent no fewer than 120 hours of work.
- AFEE 5993—Directed Study in Agricultural Education and Extension (3-6 cr)
