Comparative and International Development Education (CIDE): Graduate Minor in International Education
Overview
The graduate minor in international education is a coordinated set of courses designed for students who wish to enter careers in research, consulting, administration, teaching, law, public health, public policy, or many other fields and who desire an international education foundation to supplement their graduate majors or professional fields of study. Courses include readings, discussions, and assignments designed to develop the skills essential to professionals intending to work or teach abroad or who will work in the U.S. in an international context.
Any student admitted to a Graduate School program (e.g., M.A., M.S., Ed.D., Ph.D., S.C., M.S.W.) at the University of Minnesota, regardless of college or enrollment, is encouraged to apply for this minor.

Admission
Students interested in this option should complete the application form [.pdf] and send it to the director of graduate studies (DGS) for this minor, Dr. Frances Vavrus. The DGS and members of the International Education Graduate Faculty review the applicants and determine admission. Prospective students in the minor are welcome to consult with the graduate minor DGS regarding the program. Students who are admitted into the minor program must identify a member of the International Education Graduate Faculty who has agreed to serve on the student's master's or doctoral committee. A list of approved faculty is available through the Graduate School.
