Teacher Coordinator of Work-Based Learning: Additional Licensure Program

Admission

If you are seeking licensure as a teacher coordinator of work-based learning you may apply for admission to the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) additional licensure programs. You may also fulfill requirements for this license if you are applying or currently admitted to another program in the College.

Licensure Requirements

To fulfill requirements for the teacher coordinator of work-based learning licensure according to Minnesota Board of Teaching rules, you must fulfill the following requirements:

Required Courses

In addition to the above requirements, you must also successfully complete the following courses that have been aligned to Minnesota Board of Teaching licensure rules part 8710.4825.

Students requesting course equivalency for OLPD 5823, OLPD 5822 or OLPD 5813 must enroll in one credit of OLPD 5893 [Formerly WHRE 5993]—Directed Study. See Board Rules 8710.4825.

Within the framework of a directed study, the student will develop a portfolio in which he/she documents scholarship and accomplishment in each of the content standards embedded in the course(s) for which equivalency has been requested. The documentation may include transcripts, course descriptions and syllabi, and exemplars from work experience such as samples of curriculum, project reports, presentations, etc. The instructor for the directed study will judge the documentation and will approve or deny the course equivalency.

Additional Licensure Completion

To be recommended for a Minnesota Teacher Coordinator of Work-Based Learning additional licensure, you must complete all program requirements as verified by the program coordinator. Licensure application procedures can be found at:

Applying for teacher licensure

In order to complete the additional licensure process students must have the following items on file at Student Services:

  1. Application to the additional licensure program [PDF]
  2. Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate colleges or universities where you completed coursework, except the University of Minnesota.
  3. A copy of current teaching license
  4. Copy of signed additional licensure contract

Additionally, students must submit the following to apply for licensure in Minnesota:

  1. Completed application for Minnesota teaching/administrative license.
  2. Applicant Conduct Review Statement
  3. Check/money order payable to the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE)
  4. Licensure renewal form (if you wish to renew your current license at this time)
  5. Finger print card and money order for the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) (required only for individuals seeking an initial license in special education, parent education, or adult basic education)
  6. Official University of Minnesota transcript in a sealed envelope.

State mandated tests will be required of additional licensure applicants if seeking a license in a new content area.
