Leadership development and policy analysis in U.S. and international education organizations
My current work focuses on international education, particularly that of comparative education reform, internationalization of education, leadership and policy development for international schools, and related organizations. My department administrative responsibilities include the coordination of the Ed.D. programs for international educators. Students in these two doctorate programs are individuals working in international schools, study abroad, international students and scholars, international education and exchange and other related areas.
Recent projects include the creation of cross border partnerships, degree and professional development programs for education professionals in Singapore, Thailand and the Middle East. I have worked on various education related initiatives in China, Indonesia, Greece, Sultanate of Oman, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
My professional career has included senior level leadership and management positions in PK-12 schools, higher education and hospital administration. The experience of working in diverse U.S. and international education organizations has strengthened my interest in the policy and practice of educational leadership in diverse cultures. Living and working in Singapore as the dean for undergraduate and graduate education at the Center of American Education provided me with the opportunity to learn more about the development of cross border education partnerships, the culture, educational philosophy and pedagogy of teaching and learning reflected in K-12 and higher education institutions throughout the ASEAN Region, in particular.
I enjoy teaching and advising students. It is energizing to interact around diverse ideas, and to participate in the intellectual creativity, knowledge and skills generated through that process.
