Profile

I completed a Ph.D. in human resource development, with supporting work in industrial-organizational psychology. For over 20 years, I worked as a consultant for PDI Ninth House, designing and delivering large-scale leadership development interventions for client organizations across the United States and in a number of countries around the world. In 2009, I joined the faculty in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development, in the College of Education and Human Development.  In my work here, I teach leadership, career-development, and human resource development courses, conduct research on multiple aspects of these related fields, and work on other professional engagement projects. Examples include hosting a symposium on Best Practices in Leadership Development, and working with a cross-sector team to host a workshop for Job Loss Counselors and Related Professionals.

In my work at the University of Minnesota Center for Integrative Leadership (faculty profile), I co-teach the Integrative Leadership course along with a colleague from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs.

I continue my work at PDI Ninth House on a limited basis, designing and deploying leadership development initiatives to support strategic organizational change. PDI Ninth House is a global leadership solutions company with distinctive expertise in accelerating leadership effectiveness to maximize organizational results.  I continue to lead the faculty team developing and delivering a leadership development program for mid-level leaders (the Successful Managers Leadership Program), which is offered in an open-enrollment format at the University of Minnesota through the College of Continuing Education.
