Rhiannon Williams is currently a Research Associate and Graduate Program Recruitment Coordinator for the Department of Postsecondary Teaching and Learning at the U of M. She received her PhD in Educational Policy and Administration with a focus on Comparative and International Development Education from the University of Minnesota.
Her current research within the Department of Postsecondary Teaching and Learning includes understanding the dynamics around more effectively engaging diversity within first-year classrooms, creating inclusive excellence learning environments, and supporting students’ learning and development within inclusive excellence learning spaces.
Her main research interests include children’s rights, early childhood education (both domestic and international), access to education (K-12, & Higher Education), retention of marginalized students in higher education, and internationalization of higher education curriculum. As a student at the U of M, she was involved in several research projects; Study Abroad Curriculum Integration, Learning Communities, the Quality in Early Childhood Family and Day Care Settings (QUINCE) project in Minnesota, the SUPER (Save University Partnership in Educational Research) project in the Philippines, and assessment of the First-Year Experience program in the College of Education and Human Development. She completed and defended her dissertation titled Constructions of equitable notions of quality in early childhood care and development from two communities in the Philippines: Local practices of bayanihan and dagyaw in the spring of 2010.
