Faculty and Staff Research Awards

Applications for the 2014 Faculty & Staff Research Awards are due Wednesday, April 30. For more information and how to apply, please see the full RFP at http://z.umn.edu/facstaffawards.

The Office of Research & Policy hosts an annual competition for small grants in support of faculty and staff research efforts. Grants of up to $5,000 are awarded to faculty and P&A staff researchers on a competitive basis. Typically, up to five awards are made per year.

The purpose of this grant program is to advance the research of CEHD faculty and staff by providing resources that may not be available from other sources. Ideal activities include preparation of proposals for external funding, instrument development, data analysis, small pilot studies, and preparation of journal articles. Highest priority will be given to faculty and staff new to the University within the past five years.

Grant funds may be used for:

Award funds will be transferred to a chartstring managed by the PI’s unit. Funds may be used during the summer or the academic year, but must be expended within one fiscal year.

A review committee of faculty and staff will evaluate applications based on three criteria:

  1. Degree to which the proposal addresses the purpose of the program.
  2. Level of impact the proposed activities will have on the applicant’s research agenda and career.
  3. Adherence to proposal requirements.
