This module will explore the concept of cultural sensitivity and racism. While racism is not easy to discuss and may make some people uncomfortable, it is important to consider its ramifications and to acknowledge its existence.

- Consider the history of racism in the U.S.
- Understand the concept of ethnocentric monoculturalism.
- Understand the meaning of micro-insults and micro-aggressions.
- Consider different perceptions of racism.
- Review the myriad of influences on individual behavior.
- Understand the difference between cultural competence and cultural sensitivity.
- Understand the importance of the difference between universal principles of healing verses culturally specific principles of healing.
