M.S.W. Program Details
The M.S.W. program prepares professionals to enter advanced social work practice. The curriculum emphasizes social justice, the value of human diversity and empowerment of oppressed people, and focuses on clients’ strengths and problem-solving capacities that foster change at multiple levels.
Curriculum Formats
The curriculum is offered in two basic formats:
- Full program (53 semester credits), for individuals who do not have an undergraduate degree in social work
- Advanced-standing program (minimum of 34 semester credits), for individuals who have earned a social work degree from an undergraduate program that was accredited by the Council on Social Work Education within seven years of beginning graduate study
Foundation Curriculum
The 19-credit foundation curriculum is required for full-program students.
Curriculum Concentrations
The curriculum has four concentrations:
- Clinical Mental Health
- Community Practice: Organizing, Advocacy and Leadership
- Families and Children
- Health, Disabilities and Aging
