Ph.D. and Ed.D. programs in education and human development
Doctor of education (Ed.D.)
The Ed.D. degree, granted through the University's
Graduate
School, is especially well-suited for individuals who will provide
leadership in the operation of educational institutions.
Standards, admission procedures, and performance expectations are
comparable to those for the Ph.D. Rules and
procedures governing candidacy, examinations, residency, and the thesis
for the Ph.D. apply in general to the Ed.D. as well. Majors include the
following.

The Ph.D. degree is awarded through the University's Graduate School for high attainment and ability in a special subject field. Students register for a major field and minor or supporting program coursework. Ph.D. candidates write and defend a thesis and must successfully complete required examinations in general and specialized areas of emphasis. Credit requirements vary with the program and the student's previous preparation. Doctoral candidates register in the Graduate School for a minimum of five semesters of full-time graduate study.
