M.Ed. Core Requirements
8 credits
- CI 5155—Contemporary Approaches to Instruction and Assessment (3 cr)
- CI 5177—Practical Research (3 cr) (to be taken toward end of program)
- LgTT 5110 Using Technology in Second Language Teaching (2 cr)
SLC and Certificate Requirements
16 credits
- CI 5621 Culture as Core in the Second Language Classroom (2 cr)
- CI 5622 Second Language Acquisition Basics for Teachers (2 cr)
- CI 5651—Foundations of Second Languages and Cultures Education (3 cr)
- CI 5656—Reading and Writing in a Second Language (3 cr)
- CI 5662—Issues in Second Language Curriculum Design (3 cr)
- One course on assessment:
either CI 5642—The Assessment of Learners with Limited English Proficiency (3 cr)
[required for ESL teachers]OR CI 5658—Second Language Testing and Assessment (3 cr)
[required for world language teachers]

- CI 5626 Teaching the Pragmatics of a Second Language (2 cr)
*CI 5625 is not recommended if the student takes CI 5658 as the required assessment course
