Upward Bound summer employment

Upward Bound at the University of Minnesota-College of Education and Human Development (U of MN—CEHD) offers three categories of summer ‘09 employment opportunities: academic classroom, residential advising, and administrative.

Residential advising positions entail the development and implementation of experiential activities for program participants.

Academic positions range from instructor to teaching assistant. Academic courses offered may include: math, English, literature, composition & writing, reading and comprehension development, government/civic participation, forensic science, conflict mediation, test preparation, college planning, foreign language, etc.

Few administrative assistant positions are also available.

Mandatory Staff Training

Criminal Background History

All positions require a criminal background history check.

Driver Training

Should driving be assigned to your position, a two hour University of Minnesota driver training for 15-passenger vehicles is required. **The training dates are as follows: May 13th or June 10th from 3:00-5:00PM.**

RESIDENTIAL

Employment Dates

Non-live-in: Monday, June 22 – Friday, June 26, 2009, 8:00AM- 4:30PM

Live-in: Sunday, June 28 – Friday, July 24, 2009. Staff typically works Sunday late afternoon – Friday afternoon.

Driver History Check

Because driving is a required function, a driver's history check is required.

Driver Training

This position requires driving a 15-passenger vehicle. A two-hour University of Minnesota provided driver training is mandatory. **The training dates are as follows: May 13th or June 10th from 3:00-5:00PM.**

ACADEMIC

Employment Dates

Monday – Friday, June 22 – July 31, 2009. Academic hours will vary depending on the # of courses taught.

ADMINISTRATIVE

Employment Dates
