Applying to/declaring a major

For current CEHD students

For majors within CEHD

Priority application deadline is February 1 for a fall start in a major, and October 1 for a spring start. Competitive programs do fill up with applications turned in by the priority deadline.

For non-CEHD majors and degrees

Adding a second degree

If you are interested in pursuing a second degree (that is, a degree other than a B.S., such as a B.A. or B.S.B.):

  1. Meet with the department offering the major to find out their specific admission requirements and application process.
  2. Fill out the Application for Admission to Additional Undergraduate Degree Program, which is available via One Stop’s Forms Online link.
  3. If you receive financial aid, check with One Stop about any possible ramifications.
  4. When it’s time to graduate, your application for degree will ask you specific questions about additional majors, minors, and degrees. You may finish all degrees, majors, and minors at one time, but you are not required to do so.

Adding a second (non-CEHD) major or minor

If you want to earn a second major or a minor (for example, adding a Spanish major in addition to your elementary education foundations major), the first step is to visit with the department offering that program. The department will direct you to follow a specific application process. This usually includes meeting with an adviser and filling out a form, which is then filed and shared with both the college office of the department offering the major/minor and your home college.
