Undergraduate (B.S.) Degree in Agricultural Education

Effective September 1, 2008 the undergraduate major in Agricultural Education will shift its program home from the Department of Work and Human Resource Education in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) to the College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS). The two colleges have been partners in delivering the Agricultural Education major for many years. Both colleges are committed to continuing this partnership into the future. This change in alignment will help simplify enrollment and student support for the program. This change does not impact any degree requirements in the major, only your college of enrollment.

What will happen? For students currently enrolled in CFANS and the pre-ag education major, you will be able to continue your enrollment in CFANS through graduation. If you are planning to pursue one of the teacher licensure specializations you will eventually need to apply to the upper division to ensure that you have met the Minnesota state requirements/milestones for teacher licensure. Your faculty adviser will assist you with that process. With this new alignment, you will continue to take courses from both colleges. CFANS, along with the faculty in Agricultural Education/WHRE will provide academic advising and degree clearance. CEHD will continue to offer professional education coursework and will assist you with your licensure processing for your educator’s license.

For students currently enrolled in CEHD in the upper division Agricultural Education major your enrollment will be moved to CFANS effective with the beginning of fall semester 2008. For students switching to CFANS, advisers in CFANS, along with the faculty in Agricultural Education/WHRE will provide academic advising support. Anyone staying in CEHD will continue working with their current adviser. This change has no effect on agricultural education students enrolled at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.
