I Am A Star

My name is Sumaya Hassan and I'm a freshman at the University of Minnesota, in the College of Liberal Arts. After much deliberation and second-guessing myself numerous times, I have decided to pursue a major in Political Science, with a focus on Global Studies and a minor in South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. For my digital story I wanted to bring to light something that hits close to home. I'm originally from Somalia and it seemed only natural to share with everyone the severe drought and famine that occued in Somalia, in 2011. Through this video I hope to make people a little bit more aware of the 'true' causes of the famine and the negative consequences the famine will have on Somalia's environment, economy and the social standard of living.
