Michael Redict, also known by his stage name King Karnov, is a multi-talented musician and entrepreneur. As owner of Castlehouse Worldwide LLC, he’s a business owner, music producer, and beat maker extraordinaire. Michael has created music for some of the biggest names in hip hop like Busta Rhymes as well as local standouts like Toki Wright. He’s also active in his community and gives his time to the Paul Wellstone Center and EXPO Elementary School in Saint Paul.

What's your favorite memory from the University of Minnesota?
One of my favorite memories was during the senior year. During this time, I was in the process of finishing my degree while becoming a new father. I used to bring him to my appointments with my advisor, Amy Hackett. It was just a great learning experience.
Who has inspired you the most during your career?
Amy Hackett. She really helped me to stay focus and make a plan that worked out well. I was so lucky to have an advisor that was as motivating as her. Thank you Amy! :)
How do others describe you? How do you describe yourself?
People would describe me as a good, caring, humorous person who is never afraid to learn more. I describe myself as one who always want to learn, loves my family, and strives to work hard everyday for my family.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to either be a doctor or a musician.
When you have 30 minutes of free time, what do you do?
I like to walk at the Mall of America with my wife and son, Alicia and Michael Jr. If we’re not there, I’ll play video games on the iPad with Michael.
What's a good book you'd recommend to others?
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.
If you could have coffee with anyone from history, who would it be?
I would have coffee with Michael Jackson. I’m a big fan of his…and maybe Beethoven.
