Biography

My research interest is mainly around the internationalization of higher education in the United States. Within education, I am interested in studying effective strategies to support faculty and instructors in creating linguistically inclusive classrooms and supporting intercultural learning of both international and non-international students. Other research interests of mine include public policy development and its impact on international students’ experiences and internationalization of higher education institutions and access to U.S. higher education.

Being an international student in the U.S. for nearly 10 years has provided me an opportunity to learn how important it is to have support throughout your college experience, whether it is inside or outside of the classroom, especially when you are alone in a foreign country. This led me to pursue a career in higher education where I gained experiences in academic advising, career development, and housing and residential life to become a representative and advocate for international students in higher education institutions. While pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees, I was also involved in student advocacy where we focused on creating inclusive and safe learning environments for all students. I was able to establish valuable supporting relationships with faculty while helping them navigate their challenges and concerns about supporting international students in the classroom.
