I want to live in a world where there is equal access to wealth and opportunity. I don’t believe that people should be barred from accessing something because of their socioeconomic status or their race. My goal is to help look for solutions to make this dream come true.

Impact of Gentrification in Minneapolis and Saint Paul Between the Years 2000-2019

Abstract: “At the core of the debate over gentrification are the issues of displacement and the question of who benefits and who is harmed by the neighborhood changes” (Goetz, et. al, p. 4). It has been long that gentrification is a process that happens due to the increase of rent and home value within a city. It has also been proven that gentrification often affects those who are considered working class as well as marginalized groups, specifically people of color. We used data from the American Community Survey to determine how Minneapolis and Saint Paul have been impacted by gentrification from the years 2000 until 2019. Through this research, it has been discovered that the median value of homes increased by $57,890 over the past 19 years and the 2008 housing and economic crisis could have played a possible role.
