Ruth graduated with a bachelor of science in human development and family studies from Iowa State University and a master of arts in human development and family studies from the University of Missouri. Before arriving at the University Of Minnesota, Ruth worked with underrepresented students in New York City as a traveling college success advisor. She is a proud U.S. born Mexicana and first-generation student. As an alumna of TRIO Student Support Services and the Ronald E. McNair program, her commitment, dedication, and passion to work with students is rooted in her lived experiences and shared stories from students. Through a social equity lens, her goal at the University of Minnesota is to provide student-centered support and aid students in accomplishing their defined academic, professional, and personal goals.
Outside of her work with students, Ruth enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing volleyball, hiking, and watching movies. She is an adventure seeker, taco enthusiast, and a morning person.
