Kevin Xiong

About Kevin

Kevin (he/him) grew up in North Minneapolis and was a first-generation college student at Macalester College where he majored in American Studies and Educational Studies. He then received his Master’s of Arts degree in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. He was first introduced to TRIO in middle school as a TRIO Education Talent Search student with Minneapolis College. While in college, Kevin worked with the TRIO Upward Bound program at North Hennepin Community College to develop a mentorship program with high school and college students. He is passionate about college access and success and has worked with multiple college access programs throughout the Twin Cities.

Kevin enjoys helping students reach their full potential and holding space for students to be their most authentic self. Prior to joining the TRIO SSS team, Kevin was a high school counselor within a school district Northwest of Minneapolis.

Outside of work, Kevin enjoys time with his family and friends. He likes to play tennis, badminton, and volleyball. When he has time, he also enjoys watching anime and Korean dramas.
