About me

Hello! My name is Phuong Geiger and I look forward to working with you! I started working at the University of Minnesota in May of 2018. Before joining the College of Education and Human Development, I have worked as an Academic Advisor in the College of Biological Sciences and the School of Nursing.

I was born in Vietnam but grew up in Worcester, MA. I went to the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester MA and majored in Sociology with an Asian Studies concentration. I moved to MN in 2015 and got my Masters in Leadership in Student Affairs from the University of St. Thomas.

As the first person in my family to go to college, I remember the challenges of navigating a whole new environment, resources, and classes. I really appreciated the support and guidance that I received as a first gen college student and hope to provide that same support to my students! I really enjoy building relationships and connecting with students.

Outside of work, I enjoy going on walks with my family, playing board games, walking my cat, traveling, eating desserts and drinking bubble tea and watching kdramas.

We are committed to providing a comfortable, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members of our communities. If there is information you feel would be helpful for us to know, including disability or other accommodation needs, I invite you to share it with me directly or let the front desk know when you schedule an appointment.
