My name is Jessica Thompson. Originally from Cleveland, OH, I began my collegiate career at Kent State University in Kent, OH. After spending two years there I decided to transfer to the University of Minnesota where I completed my undergraduate degree in youth studies. Immediately following I moved to Ann Arbor, MI where I received my master’s in social work from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor.
I have devoted my professional career to assisting students from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds in making strong transitions from high school, to college, and onto their careers. Through my work I seek to empower students by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and experiences needed to accomplish their educational and professional goals. I strive to build meaningful relationships with students by embracing diversity, being attentive to individual’s differences, and being an avid listener. As a graduate of the College of Education and Human Development I excited to continue this work in my role as an Academic Adviser.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my puppy Milo! My hobbies include listening to various genres of music, going to concerts, traveling, and trying new and adventurous things.
