About me

Greetings!

My name is Betty Yang. I was born and raised in Minneapolis. I am a proud TRIO graduate, participating in three programs: Educational Talent Search, Student Support Services, and McNair Scholars. I attended St. Olaf College and double majored in social work and family studies. In college, I was able to travel abroad to Australia and to Italy!

I earned my master’s degree in non profit management from Hamline University while I served as a Project Coordinator for St. Paul Public School’s Harding High School. Before I joined the University of Minnesota as a CEHD Academic Advisor, I worked at Minneapolis Community and Technical College as a Power of You advisor.

I believe in the power of education and I love working with students. Many people have been a part of my journey and I hope to be a part of yours!

We are committed to providing a comfortable, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members of our communities. If there is information you feel would be helpful for us to know, including disability or other accommodation needs, I invite you to share it with me directly or let the front desk know when you schedule an appointment.

Drop-in hours will be different for every advisor.

Drop-in advising is usually limited to a 10 to 15 minute session. Students needing more time should schedule a 30 minute appointment by calling Student Services at 612-625-3339.
