Sean M. Virnig leads an internationally renowned bilingual school for the Deaf, providing both a positive learning environment where 450 Deaf students thrive, and various educational resources and services in Northern California. He is responsible for the administration of all programs and oversees a large staff of administrators, educators, and support services personnel. Sean is also completing his Ph.D. with CEHD in Educational Policy and Administration.

What is your favorite memory from the University of Minnesota?

Practicums for District Superintendent and Director of Special Education licensures at ISD 196 Rosemount-Eagan-Apple Valley and ISD 659 Northfield, respectively.

What professors were most influential during your time in CEHD?

All of them.

How do you describe yourself?

Driven.

Who has inspired you the most during your career?

The Deaf Child.

When you have free time, what do you do?

Ride a bicycle of my design. I am the founder and owner of Rawland Cycles, a specialty company that designs and sells quality bicycle frames and forks with custom qualities.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A Formula One driver.

Seeking potential within a problem.
