Recognizing donors is an important way for the college to express its deep gratitude and show supporters how their generosity helps to foster excellence and the drive to discover.
The President's Club recognizes individuals, families, and organizations whose University-wide cumulative giving totals of $100,000 or more.
Donors who make planned gift commitments, such as including the University in their will or trust, or naming the U as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement plan accounts, make a generous promise to future generations and become a part of the Heritage Society.
Eloise and Elliot Kaplans’ relationship with CEHD began in part because of a terrible accident. Eight years ago, Eloise (BA ’92, MSW ’11) was hit by a car, suffering a head injury that hospitalized her for almost six months. Before the accident, she’d been pursuing a master of social work degree while working in private practice and as an American Cancer Society volunteer focused on smoking cessation. Because of Eloise’s strong academic record and years of practical experience, Dean Jean Quam, joined by then-president Robert Bruininks and provost Tom Sullivan, bestowed her diploma in a special ceremony at the Kaplans’ home.
From classrooms in the Twin Cities to nonprofits in Thailand, from support for young children in a homeless shelter to help for military families, the College of Education and Human Development is working to improve lives everywhere. Our faculty, staff, and students are passionate and focused, conducting research that seeks answers to some of society’s toughest issues. We could not do this work without your help. This past fiscal year, nearly 2,000 alumni and friends gave more than $8 million to support the work of the college. These gifts created scholarships and fellowships, provided program support, and enhanced research and community partnerships. Through gifts of all sizes, faculty and students benefited greatly from your generosity.
Thank you for helping us improve lives.
