Jenna Mitchler (PhD ’15) awarded Fulbright scholarship

Congratulations to Jenna Mitchler (PhD ’15) for receiving a Fulbright scholarship from the U.S. Department of State Foreign Scholarship Board. The award provides funding for participants to build relationships with international institutions and communities. Dr. Mitchler spent 6 weeks working with nongovernmental organization (NGO) TajRupt, an organization that aims to help the youth of Tajikistan develop critical thinking skills and use the design thinking process to solve some of Tajikistan’s toughest challenges. She and the leadership team reviewed the organization’s theory of change and curriculum, identifying areas of strength and growth. Together, they determined how the organization might both draw upon research-based processes for curriculum review/development and measure their overall impact. She and the team also spent a lot of time getting to know one another in an effort to mutually understand one another’s cultures and develop a partnership that will be ongoing. Dr. Mitchler is the Assistant Superintendent at Bloomington Public Schools and the vice president of the CEHD Alumni Society Board.
