Hi, I’m Nigar Shirinli (she/her), a Master of Public Policy student at the University of Minnesota.
I grew up in Azerbaijan, and over the years I’ve been lucky to experience different cultures and work in various places including the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Washington, D.C., the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Hungary, the General Consulate in Istanbul, Pasha Bank, and ADA University’s Career Services. I also spent a semester as an exchange student at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. These experiences gave me the chance to see how decisions made at the policy and organizational level can shape people’s everyday lives.
I’m especially passionate about creating opportunities for young people and supporting fair, inclusive systems. I enjoy working with others, learning from different perspectives, and contributing to meaningful projects.
Outside of work and studies, I love swimming, traveling, and walking in the rain while listening to music. Traveling has been a big source of inspiration for me, and I’ve visited 11 countries so far. I’m an introvert at heart who values close connections and meaningful conversations.
