Please join us for a lecture featuring Rossmann Awardees, ICD Professor Melissa Koenig, An Ascension Catholic School–UMN Partnership: Engaging Young People in Developmental Science, and FSoS Professor Tai Mendenhall, Intimate Relationships: Where Have We Been? Where Are We Going? The lecture will take place on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at the McNamara Alumni Center, Heritage Gallery. A reception will be held before the program begins at 4:45 p.m.
Each year, the Rossmann Faculty Development Award is selected by the CEHD Awards and Honors Committee to recognize a tenured faculty member who has demonstrated a truly exceptional level of creativity and productivity in scholarship, teaching and service, and who shows great promise of continuing such achievement. The Rossmann Lecture provides award recipients with a public platform to present their work and share research findings, new ideas, and insights with colleagues, students, and the wider community—promoting intellectual exchange and advancing knowledge in their field.
About Marty and Jack Rossmann
The Marty and Jack Rossmann Faculty Development Award honors the donors’ deep connections to CEHD, beginning with the receipt of their PhDs from the college: Marty in home economics education (‘77) and Jack in educational psychology (‘63). Marty was a professor in the Family Education program for nearly 30 years and had ties to the College of Human Ecology (now integrated into CEHD). For 43 years, Jack was a professor of psychology at Macalester College and was Macalester's Vice President for Academic Affairs from 1978-86. In the '70s he taught the Effective College Teaching course in CEHD. In retirement their activities and interests continue to focus on education.
