Newly admitted undergraduates

Welcome to CEHD! We’re excited to have you as an undergraduate student in our college.

Transfer student orientation

After being accepted into a major, students are expected to enroll in required major courses and other courses necessary to complete U of M degree requirements. Students who fail to do so may have a hold placed on their student record, requiring advisor permission to register.

For students transferring to CEHD from:

Other U of M Campuses (Duluth, Crookston, Morris, or Rochester)

Complete these steps before your assigned orientation date.

  1. Complete the New Student Checklist, which includes your assigned orientation date.
  2. If you will be transferring credits toward your major, review the course transfer process.
  3. Review the guide for changing your U of M campus on the One Stop Student Services website.

Outside the U of M

Complete these steps before your assigned orientation date.

  1. Follow the directions for confirming your enrollment as outlined in your Office of Admissions packet.
  2. Once confirmed, initiate your University email account.
  3. Complete the New Student Checklist, which includes your assigned orientation date.
  4. If you will be transferring credits toward your major, review the course transfer process.
  5. If you completed the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC), please contact your school to discuss the steps you need to take to have this noted on your final transcript.

International first-year students

  2. Review your admission materials carefully and:

  4. If you will be transferring credits toward your major, review the course transfer process.
  5. Attend an in-person CEHD orientation.

    At this orientation session, you will receive valuable information about your major, get a chance to meet your new advisors, and have any questions answered. You will also be registering for classes at this time.

    This orientation session is held in January for spring enrollment, and in mid-summer for fall enrollment. A make-up orientation will be held in late summer for students who are unable to attend their scheduled orientation. You will receive dates and other orientation information with your acceptance materials.

    After orientation you are encouraged to stay for additional sessions about University of Minnesota resources.
