CEHD International Initiatives is hosting 14 international visiting scholars from Kazakhstan as part of its first Bolashaq Scholars program focused on research and leadership. Scholars are coming from different regions and ten different institutions across various regions in Kazakhstan, including Almaty, Nur-Sultan, Pavlodar, and Shymkent. The program is funded by the Bolashaq International Scholarship, a highly prestigious Fellowship in Kazakhstan supported by the government.
The six month program (June 1-November 30) is designed to provide a structured experience that supports scholars in building knowledge and capacity in research methods, innovative teaching approaches, and academic leadership. Designed as a cohort model with individualized experiences, each scholar is paired with one local faculty during their time on campus. As a group, they participate in organized seminars, workshops, field experiences, and projects and work one-on-one with the assigned host faculty during fall 2022.

I am from Kazakhstan, Almaty city. Currently I work at the Almaty University of Energy and Communications named after Gumarbek Daukeev (AUPET). AUPET is one of the leading technical universities in Central Asia, which provides training in the field of energy, telecommunications, IT technologies and information security, space engineering, robotics and artificial intelligence. The university trains specialists in college, bachelor's, master's and PhD programs. Our university teaches in three languages: Kazakh, Russian and English.
I am the director of the Institute of Thermal Power Engineering and Control Systems. The Institute trains heat power engineers, specialists in the field of automation and informatization in control systems, life safety, industrial safety and engineering ecology. As well as being an educator in Occupational Safety and Health Technology, I am also an administrative worker and it is very important for me to complete an internship at the University of Minnesota in the Research and Leadership Program in Management in Education and Science. My research interests are environmental engineering technology, hazardous materials management and waste technology, industrial safety technology, decarbonization and green technologies.

I am a visiting scholar from al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Almaty, Kazakhstan. I have PhD in Linguistics, am Acting Associate Professor in general Linguistic and European Languages Department. I have 15 years of teaching experience in various disciplines related to sociolinguistics, linguistics, and speech and language communication. In 2005-2008 I took part in New Language identity in transforming societies: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan INTAS academic project. My main research orientation is linguistics. I obtained a PhD degree in 2011 where I studied Language Adaptation and Integration of Kazakh repatriates. In 2017-2018, I took part in Erasmus+ Action 2 CBHE project: Development of the interdisciplinary master program on Computational Linguistics at Central Asian Universities (CLASS), I was visiting scholar in Indiana University (2008), Lomonosov Moscow State University (2009) and visiting researcher in Otto-von-Guericke University (2011), University of Helsinki (2011), La Coruna University (2018), Adam-Mickiewicz University (2019).

I obtained PhD degree in Translation Studies from Al-farabi Kazakh National University in 2020. My research interests include Theory and Practice of Translation Studies, Interpreting and Translation Research and Practice, English Language Teaching, and Second Language Acquisition. I teach subjects such as The Theory of Equivalence Levels in Translation Studies, Media Linguistics and Foreign Language, Linguocultural Specificity of Translation, Text Stylistics and Translation, Foreign Language, and Foreign Language for Academic Purposes. I am a teacher of English and Chinese at boarding gymnasium for gifted children and a 2nd-year doctoral student in Pavlodar Pedagogical University. My dissertation is focused on innovative methods of teaching history in a foreign language to train future specialists in this field.
I have a Master's degree from the Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages named after Abylai Khan. I also have a second degree in higher education in the specialty "International Law", which further helped me to work in leadership positions. Between 2016-2020, I worked as a deputy director for educational work at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Pavlodar. Most recently I was recommended for the position of head of the Innovation Center for the Development of Education of the Pavlodar region. Working at the center sparked my interest in research and motivated me to enroll in PhD program in "Pedagogical History".

I am a visiting scholar supported by Bolashak Scholarship Programme which is funded by Kazakhstan Government. I have a PhD in Linguistics from L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University (Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan). My PhD thesis was done in linguistics; in particular, it is related to universal and culture-specific keywords in business communication.
My current scholarship program is Research and Leadership Program. At the College of Education and Human Development I am planning to build knowledge and capacity in program-related issues, study academic leadership and innovative teaching approaches in higher educational institutions.

During my time as a visiting scholar I will be focused in building knowledge and capacity in research methods, innovative teaching approaches and academic leadership. I am an associate professor of the foreign languages department in the faculty of international relations, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. My research interests are comparative linguistics and method of teaching foreign languages. I have a PhD in Philology. My research is devoted to the study the phonological & structural and lexical-grammatical, semantic comparative characteristic of monosyllabic root verbs in the Kazakh and other Kipchak group languages. I have more than 50 scientific publications, 1 monograph, 6 articles in the database of Scopus and Web of Science journals. I have disseminated my research publications through the participation in local and overseas conferences, workshops, and seminars.

I am an associate professor of the foreign languages department in the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Kazakhstan. L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University as the leading institution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Our university provides education for more than 20 000 students in various majors. Several of our departments provide English as a foreign language training. I graduated from Tselinograd Pedagogical Institute in 1991. My pedagogical experience started shortly after my graduation with a particular interest in methods of teaching English. I continued my studies at Eurasian Institute of Humanities to obtain a pedagogical sciences degree focused on the theory and methods of professional education. I have more than 150 scientific publications, four educational aids, 3 monograph in the field of foreign languages teaching methods, 7 articles in the database of Scopus and Web of Science journals.

I teach courses in Functional English grammar, Phraseology of the English Language, Level Organization of a Foreign Language, Theory and Practice of Language. My PhD research was Semantic and structural features of phrasal verbs in Kazakh and English languages.
Currently I am interested in three research topics: Phrasal verbs, Methods of Distance Education in teaching foreign languages, Influence of soft skills on teaching competency.
With this visiting scholar experience, I would like to improve my knowledge of linguistics and Methods of Distance Education in teaching foreign languages and investigate your integrative approach to linguistic and methodological research and apply this experience in my country.

I am an expert of the vocational education and labor market of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). My research interests are a teacher’s professional development, evaluation of the learning outcomes, using of research data in the education policy and practices. As part of my internship at the CEHD, I hope to focus my work on the methods of the incorporating research data for assessing the impact of reforms in education.

I obtained my PhD in Pedagogy from Ahmet Yassawi International University. My main research interests are Innovative technologies and methodology of teaching and learning, as well as Linguocultural and cultural studies, and more recently focus on Intercultural communication and gender studies. Completed short-term and long-term scientific internships in a number of foreign countries, including in the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. I have also served as a Kazakh language teacher at the Summer Institute for Central Eurasian Studies (CESSI) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Studied English language courses through the ESL - English as a Second Language program and participated in advanced training seminars/workshops on blended, flipped and online learning, methods of using e-learning technology in the classroom as part of the University of Wisconsin Collaborative Language Program. I am a member of several international organizations such as AATT/American Association of Teachers of Turkic Languages, AATSEEL / The American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages, NCOLCTL/ The National Council of Less Commonly Taught Languages. My research interest is focused on the formation of new methods on developing communicative leadership competence of future English teachers. At the U of M, I hope to focus my work on methodology of teaching on preparation of future English teachers. I have been teaching at the University since 2004. I started my teaching journey at the International Relations faculty, then changed to Translation faculty and now I am in the pedagogy faculty. But my primary interest has been methods of teaching as I am the master of teaching foreign language methodology.

I speak Kazakh, Russian, English, Turkish and Arabic languages. My research interests include political and eastern studies including education. I hope to pursue a career in education. I want to work at universities as a manager and researcher to contribute to higher education institutions. My career goal is to become an expert in management in education. I hope this education program in Minnesota University will help me to build my capacity in research as well as will be a strong basis for my future academic career.
